Flooring isn't just decoration. It's what you walk on every day, what keeps your feet warm in winter, and what sets the tone for an entire room.
A poorly installed floor means annoying creaks, joints that peel after 6 months, wood that warps due to humidity, or ceramic tiles that crack because the subfloor wasn't level.
Here in Lévis, with our fretted winters and the humidity that comes from the river or basements, you have to choose the right material and install it according to the rules of the trade. Otherwise, you'll regret it within a year.
We often see this in houses in Saint-Étienne or Lauzon: floating floors installed directly on damp concrete, hardwood that buckles in the kitchen because of water damage, or cheap vinyl that peels at the joints after a winter.
We do it right, with the right materials and the right preparation.
It's our number-one recommendation for Lévis, especially in basements, kitchens, bathrooms and entrances. SPC vinyl is 100% waterproof, resists temperature variations and is super durable.
Brands we install: Coretec, LifeProof, NuCore. It's a floating installation, so there's no need for glue, and if a board breaks in 5 years, you can just replace it without undoing everything.
Typical price: 4.50 $ to 7 $ per sq. ft. installed.
The good old floating floor is still popular and an affordable option. We recommend brands with a good AC rating (AC4 or AC5) for high-traffic areas like hallways or living rooms.
On the other hand, floating floors aren't waterproof. You have to watch out for water damage, and install a good underlayment with a vapour-barrier membrane if you're laying on concrete.
Typical price: 3.50 $ to 6 $ per sq. ft. installed.
Hardwood is classic and stylish. We install oak, maple, cherry - depending on your budget and your style.
Pre-varnish is faster and less dusty. Varnishing wood on site is more work, but gives a really uniform finish.
Important: hardwood is not suitable for basements or bathrooms. Moisture will cause it to warp. We tell you in advance to avoid problems.
Typical price: 8 $ to 14 $ per sq. ft. installed (pre-varnished), 10 $ to 18 $ (to be varnished on site).
For bathrooms, kitchens, entrances or laundry rooms, ceramic is unbeatable. It's waterproof, easy to clean and lasts 30 years if properly installed.
We install ceramic, porcelain and even large plank tiles that imitate wood. Everything is laid on a solid subfloor, with quality cement-glue and well-sealed joints.
Typical price: 6 $ to 12 $ per sq. ft. installed, depending on tile.
For bedrooms, finished basements or family rooms, carpet is comfortable and keeps the heat in. Install carpet with foam or rubber carpet pad for comfort underfoot.
You just have to make sure the subfloor is dry and well insulated, especially in the basement, otherwise you'll get damp odours.
Typical price: 3 $ to 6 $ per sq. ft. installed.
A beautiful floor on a crooked subfloor doesn't work. Before installing anything, inspect and prepare the subfloor properly.
If your current floor is not level (we're talking 1/4" difference over 10 feet), level it with a self-levelling compound or install new plywood. It costs a little more, but it's essential for lasting results.
If your floor moves or cracks, it's often because the joists underneath are too far apart or the plywood is too thin. Repair or reinforce before installing the new floor.
For basements or concrete slabs, always test for humidity with a moisture meter. If it's too damp, install a vapour-barrier membrane before laying the floor.
We remove the old floor, lay out the materials according to the rules, and make sure everything is clean before starting the installation.
This often happens with hardwood or floating floors when there's too much humidity in the basement, or when the floor hasn't had time to acclimatize before installation. Flooring boxes are always left in the house 48-72 hours before installation.
This is common in the old houses of Lévis, especially in Saint Romuald or in Old Levis. The original joists are often 2×6 with 24" spacing, and they move. We reinforce them with 5/8" or 3/4" plywood before laying the new floor.
If ceramic tiles crack, it's often because the subfloor is moving or because the thin-set mortar wasn't thick enough. Always use a decoupling membrane (such as Ditra) in high-risk areas.
A basement floor installed directly on concrete remains cold, even with heating. It's often recommended to install an insulating subfloor (DRIcore, Barricade) before installing vinyl or floating floors.
Too many people put hardwood in the bathroom or carpet in the laundry room. We always recommend the right material for each room.

Each installation comes with our 5-year warranty on labor. If a joint comes loose or a board moves because of our work, we'll come back and fix it free of charge.
