A sturdy, durable roof that's ready for our winters.
Is your roof leaking? Do you have shingles that lift up or fly off every time there's a storm? Water stains on the ceiling?
Your roof is literally what protects your home from everything—rain, snow, ice, sun, wind. When it fails, the damage can be catastrophic.
A leaky roof isn't just a minor leak. It's water seeping into your insulation, rotting your wood framing, and creating mold. If you wait too long, repairs will cost you 10 times more than redoing the roof right away.
At Solutions Rénovation Québec, we install Durable roofs that can withstand our crazy climate. No shortcuts, no cheap jobs—just solid workmanship with a lifetime warranty on labor.
Missing or damaged shingles. If you see shingles on your property after a storm, or if you have bare patches, that's a bad sign.
Shingles that are warping or lifting. When shingles begin to warp, it means they have exceeded their lifespan. They no longer provide adequate protection.
Granules in the gutters. Asphalt shingles lose their protective granules as they age. If your gutters are full of black granules, your roof will need to be replaced soon.
Water stains on the ceiling or in the attic. This is the most obvious sign—your roof is leaking. You need to act quickly before the damage gets worse.
Roof that is over 20 years old. Asphalt shingles generally last 20-25 years. If your roof is approaching this age, start planning for its replacement.
Ice dams every winter. If you have ice buildup at the edge of your roof that is causing water infiltration, it is often a ventilation or insulation issue. This can be fixed during the renovation.
Moss or algae on the shingles. This indicates that moisture is staying on your roof for too long. This is not good for the lifespan of your shingles.
It is the most popular material in Quebec. Economical, durable, and easy to install.
Why it's good: Excellent value for money, wide variety of colors, withstands our climate well, easy to repair.
Types we install:
3-tab shingles (standard): 20-25 year lifespan, economical option.
Architectural shingles (dimensional): Thicker, more upscale appearance (imitates slate), lifespan of 30-40 years. Our recommendation.
High-performance laminated shingles: Maximum wind resistance (up to 130 mph), 50-year warranty. For exposed areas.
Colors: Black, gray, brown, green, red—we have everything you need to match your home.
Metal is becoming increasingly popular. It's durable, eco-friendly, and lasts a lifetime.
Why it's good: Lasts 50 years or more, fire resistant, reflects heat in summer (energy savings), virtually maintenance free.
Types we install:
Standing seam sheet metal: Modern, sleek look, no visible screws, maximum watertightness.
Profiled sheet metal (imitation shingle): Traditional appearance but made of durable metal.
Cost: More expensive than asphalt (2-3 times), but it's a lifetime investment.
Complete inspection. We climb onto your roof and assess the condition of the shingles, underlayment, plywood, and ventilation. We tell you exactly what needs to be done.
Removal of the old roof. We remove all old shingles (we never install new ones on top of old ones—it's against our standards). We inspect the deck wood and replace any rotten or damaged sections.
Installation of the protective membrane. A high-quality underlayment membrane is installed over the entire surface. In critical areas (eaves, valleys, chimneys), Ice & Water Shield self-adhesive membrane is used for maximum protection against water infiltration.
Adequate ventilation. Make sure your attic is properly ventilated—air intakes at the soffits, air outlets at the ridge. Good ventilation extends the life of your roof and prevents ice dams.
Installation of shingles. Shingles are installed according to the manufacturer's standards—plenty of nails (at least 6 per shingle), perfect alignment, and proper overlap.
Waterproof flashings. Flashing (around the chimney, vents, valleys) is crucial. It must be installed perfectly to prevent water infiltration.
Gutters and soffits. If your gutters or soffits need replacing, we can take care of that at the same time. Everything must be watertight and functional.
Complete cleaning. We collect all debris and use a magnet to pick up any nails that have fallen on your property. We leave your property clean.
High-quality roof underlayment. No cheap tar paper—we use modern membranes that breathe and protect.
Ice & Water Shield in critical areas. Maximum protection against leaks where it is most vulnerable.
Optimized ventilation. Continuous ridge vents or roof vents are installed to ensure proper air circulation.
High-quality shingles. We work with well-known brands (IKO, GAF, Owens Corning) that offer good warranties.
Aluminum or copper flashings. No galvanized flashings that will rust. Ours last as long as the roof.
Lifetime warranty on labor. If there is a problem with our installation, we will come back and repair it free of charge. Period. In addition to the manufacturer's warranty on the shingles.
It depends on the area, slope, and material, but here are some realistic estimates:
These prices include: removal of the old roof, replacement of rotten wood if necessary, underlayment, Ice & Water Shield, new shingles, ventilation, and complete cleaning.
If your deck wood needs major repairs, we will let you know during the inspection.
A standard single-family home generally takes 2-4 days, depending on complexity:
For a metal roof, allow 3-5 days.
We work efficiently to protect you as quickly as possible. If rain is forecast, we cover everything securely every evening.
Clean your gutters twice a year. Clogged gutters cause water to overflow and damage the bottom of your roof.
Remove snow that has accumulated during winter. Excessive snow accumulation creates enormous weight on your structure. A roof rake does the job.
Inspect your roof once a year. Climb up (or ask someone else to climb up) to check for damaged shingles, loose flashing, or blocked vents.
Trim any tree branches that are touching your roof. Branches that rub against the roof damage the shingles and trap moisture.
Make sure your attic is well ventilated. Heat and humidity in the attic cause wood to rot and shorten the life of your roof.
We always remove the old roof. Many contractors install the new roof over the old one to save time. Not us. We want to inspect the wood underneath and start with a solid foundation.
Lifetime warranty on our installation. If there is a defect in our work, we will come back and fix it for free, no matter when. It rarely happens because we do it right, but you're protected.
Experience with Quebec's climate. We know the challenges—ice dams, high winds, freeze-thaw cycles. We install roofs that can withstand all of that.
Optimized ventilation. Pay special attention to the ventilation in your attic. This is crucial for the lifespan of your roof and to avoid ice problems in winter.

Standard shingles last 20-25 years. Architectural shingles last 30-40 years. It depends on the quality of the shingle, the attic ventilation, and maintenance. A well-built roof with good shingles can easily last more than 30 years.
We always recommend removing it. This allows you to inspect the wood underneath, repair rotten sections, install a new protective membrane, and start with a clean slate. Laying new siding on top just hides the problems.
Dark colors (black, dark gray, brown) absorb heat and help melt snow in winter. Light colors reflect heat in summer. In Quebec, most people choose medium to dark tones. Above all, choose a color that harmonizes with your home.
An ice dam is an accumulation of ice at the edge of the roof that prevents meltwater from draining. The water rises under the shingles and flows into your home. To prevent this, ensure your attic is well insulated and ventilated, and install an Ice & Water Shield membrane at the bottom of the roof.
It's not ideal, but it's possible if it's urgent (such as after a storm that has torn off shingles). In very cold weather, shingles become brittle and the adhesive doesn't stick well. We recommend doing this between spring and fall.
Yes, absolutely. They cost $20–$30 more than standard shingles, but last 10–15 years longer, are more wind-resistant, and have a much more upscale appearance. We recommend them in 90% of cases.
Metal costs about 2-3 times the price of asphalt. But it lasts 2-3 times longer. If you plan to stay in your home for a long time, metal is an excellent investment. You'll never have to replace your roof.
From the kitchen to the garden, we have the solution.
