A sturdy, beautiful terrace, perfect for enjoying the summer.
Do you have an old deck that's creaking everywhere? Or do you dream of having a beautiful outdoor space to entertain your friends, have BBQs, and enjoy the summer?
A patio isn't just a luxury—it's a true extension of your home. It's where you'll drink your morning coffee, let the kids play, and spend quiet evenings with friends.
But be careful: a poorly constructed deck can be a source of problems. Rotting boards, sagging structures, slippery surfaces, wobbly ramps. It becomes dangerous and ends up costing you a fortune in repairs.
At Solutions Rénovation Québec, we build beautiful decks, Strong and durable. Designed for our climate, built to last, and made so you can enjoy every summer without any worries.
We see the same mistakes being repeated:
Inadequate foundations. A deck built on concrete blocks on the ground will shift every year with the freeze-thaw cycle. The result: a structure that sags, boards that come loose, and a dangerous deck.
Poor quality wood. Cheap treated wood rots after 5-6 years, especially if it is poorly ventilated underneath. We see this all the time.
Neglected drainage. If water accumulates under your deck or gets trapped between the boards, it accelerates rot and creates moisture against your house.
Poorly anchored ramps. Bolted ramps that loosen over time are dangerous. You need to replace them.welded aluminum beams who will hold out.
Insufficient space between the boards. If the boards are too tight, the water won't drain. That creates mold and makes the wood rot faster.
This is the classic and economical option. If it is well made with good wood, it will last a long time.
Why it's good: Affordable, natural appearance, easy to repair.
What we use: High-quality treated wood (not the cheap stuff you find in big box stores), kiln-dried, with a good treatment rate.
Interview: Clean in the spring, apply a stain or sealant every 2-3 years. This will keep your wood looking beautiful and protect it.
Cedar is beautiful, smells good, and is naturally resistant to rot.
Why it's good: Beautiful appearance, naturally resistant to insects and rot, ages gracefully (takes on a beautiful gray hue if left untreated).
Interview: Same as treated wood—stain every 2-3 years if you want to maintain the original color.
Composite (such as Trex, TimberTech), it's wood mixed with plastic. Zero maintenance, never rots.
Why it's good: No ever-repeating dye jobs, stain and fade resistant, won't crack or chip, perfect for busy families.
Cost: More expensive to buy than wood, but you save on maintenance in the long term.
Appearance: The new composites perfectly mimic natural wood—grain, texture, and varied colors.
Ground-level terrace (patio): Directly on the ground or a few inches above it. Ideal for flat terrain.
Elevated terrace: Several feet above the ground, perfect for sloping terrain or to create a beautiful space at the height of your patio door.
We build both. We make sure the structure is solid and code-compliant, regardless of height.
Assessment of your land. We come to your home, take measurements, assess the slope of the land, and discuss what you want (size, height, style).
Custom design. We create a detailed plan with the exact dimensions and the location of the posts, stairs, and railings. You can see exactly what you're going to get.
Solid foundations. Screw piles are installed in the ground (below the frost line) or poured concrete pillars. This ensures that your deck will remain stable for decades.
Sturdy structure. The structure is built using high-quality treated wood—main beams, joists spaced correctly (maximum 16 inches center to center). Everything is securely fastened with galvanized lag screws.
Installation of the floor. The boards are laid with the correct spacing (1/8 to 1/4 inch between each board) to allow water to drain away. Each board is screwed down so that it cannot move.
MC Mel aluminum ramps. We install welded, rust-free, ultra-strong ramps. No cheap hardware that will break after two years.
Safe stairs. Uniform steps, closed risers if necessary, non-slip surface. Everything is designed for your safety.
Finishes. We thoroughly clean the site, remove all debris, and ensure that everything is perfect.
Integrated lighting. LED lights recessed into steps or railing posts. Perfect for summer evenings.
Pergola or partial roof. To create shade and protect a section of your patio from the sun or rain.
Built-in benches. Benches can be built directly into the structure of your deck. It's practical and saves space.
Space for a spa. If you want a hot tub on your deck, we'll reinforce the structure to support the weight (a full hot tub weighs several thousand pounds).
Privacy. You can add lattice panels, privacy walls, or built-in planters to create privacy.
It depends on the size, height, and material, but here are some realistic estimates:
These prices include: foundations, structure, flooring, MC Mel aluminum ramps, stairs, and complete installation.
A standard deck (12×16) usually takes 3-5 days. A larger deck with a pergola and accessories can take 1-2 weeks.
We give you a specific timeline from the start and we stick to it.
Treated wood or cedar: Clean in the spring with a deck cleaner. Apply stain or sealant every 2-3 years. Inspect screws and boards annually.
Composite: Sweep or hose it down once in a while. That's it. No staining, no major maintenance.
Aluminum ramps: No maintenance. Never paint, never rust.
Foundations that stand the test of time. Screw piles or concrete pillars are used below the frost line. Your deck will remain stable for 30-40 years, not 5 years.
MC Mel welded aluminum ramps. No cheap bolted ramps that come loose. Ours are welded, rust-free, and guaranteed for life.

A patio is usually at ground level (or almost), built directly on a base of compacted gravel or slabs. A deck is raised, on a wooden or metal structure. The two terms are often used interchangeably in Quebec.
Composite is more expensive initially but requires zero maintenance. Wood is less expensive but needs to be stained every 2-3 years. If you like the look of natural wood and don't mind maintaining it, choose wood. If you just want to enjoy your deck without any hassle, choose composite.
It depends on your municipality and the height of your deck. Generally, if your deck is more than 24 inches above the ground, you need a permit. We'll check this for you and can take care of the paperwork.
If it is well built with good wood and well maintained, easily 20-25 years. The structure (beams and joists) can last even longer—it is often just the floor that is replaced after 15-20 years.
Yes, it's actually the most common method. We securely attach the deck to your house using a system of suspended joists. We make sure everything is watertight to prevent water infiltration.
From spring to fall (May to October). Work can begin as soon as the ground thaws in spring. Reserve your spot early, as we fill up quickly during the summer.
Yes, but it's easier if you plan for it from the start. You can reinforce certain posts and plan for the necessary anchors. It costs less than modifying everything after the fact.
From the kitchen to the garden, we have the solution.
