Red cedar terrace

Western red cedar is more expensive, but naturally resistant to rot and insects. It gives a warm look, and ages to a silvery gray if left untreated.

You still need to treat it every 2-3 years if you want to keep the original color.

Composite decking

What to do when building your terrace

Site assessment and planning

Licensing (if required)

À Lévis, Terraces over 24 inches high or attached to the house generally require a permit. We take care of all the paperwork with the city to ensure compliance.

Pile and structure installation

Cast concrete piles are driven below the frost line (4-5 feet deep) to firmly anchor the structure. Beams, joists and bracing are then installed in accordance with building codes.

The entire structure is made of treated wood (2×8, 2×10, 2×12 depending on span) with galvanized steel connectors.

Floor installation

Decking boards are installed at the recommended spacing (1/8" to 1/4" depending on material) to allow for expansion and drainage.
