What We Do When We Change Your Lining

Inspection and assessment

We always start by inspecting your existing siding. We check for water infiltration, rotten plywood, damaged insulation, or structural problems.

If we find any damage, we tell you in advance and repair it before installing the new siding.

Removal of old coating

We remove the old siding right down to the plywood. We take the debris out every day to keep your yard clean.

If the plywood is rotten or damaged, replace it with new (7/16" OSB or 3/8" plywood).

Air and vapour barrier installation

This is a crucial step that too many contractors skip. An air barrier (such as Tyvek or Typar) is installed over all the plywood to block air and moisture, while letting steam escape.

All joints are sealed with specialized tape for complete protection.

Additional insulation (optional)

If your house is poorly insulated, you can add rigid insulation under the sheathing (2-3 inches of polystyrene or polyurethane). It improves comfort and reduces heating costs.

Installation of new cladding

The new siding is installed according to the manufacturer's specifications: proper spacing for expansion, adequate nailing, well-sealed joints.

For vinyl, a 1/4" gap is left for thermal expansion.

For wood, apply a coat of primer before installation and seal all cut ends.

For fiber cement, we use stainless steel nails and seal the joints with elastomeric caulking.

Finishes (soffits, fascias, mouldings)

We install or replace soffits, fascias, corners and moldings around doors and windows. Everything is properly sealed to keep water out.

Aluminum or vinyl is often used for soffits - it lasts a lifetime without maintenance.

Old beige or brown vinyl siding from the '90s is a thing of the past. And the sun eventually fades cheap vinyl after 15-20 years.

Replace with modern colors (gray, black, navy blue, white) and vinyls that are more UV-resistant.
